Aluminum Roll Forming

MMC Roll Form has been an industry-leading, U.S.-based roll forming manufacturer since 1975. We specialize in custom roll forming both steels and non-ferrous alloys like aluminum. Our roll forming mills can produce an almost limitless range of profiles, from simple C and U shapes to hollow and semi-hollow sections with stiffening features.

We also offer additional capabilities, including in-line punching, to help our customers save time and ensure precision. To further help our customers save time and money, we also have a generous library of pre-made tooling.

No matter what you need, MMC Roll Form is prepared to meet and exceed high-precision and high-volume manufacturing requirements.

Aluminum Roll Forming Benefits

  • High Productivity: Roll forming is the fastest way of putting multiple bends into aluminum strip, and in-line punching and cutting-to-length further maximize process productivity.
  • Low Waste: As a continuous process, aluminum roll forming minimizes offcuts and waste, which saves money and supports sustainability goals.
  • Consistency: Once roll forming tools are set up, the process yields excellent repeatability. The last piece off will be virtually identical to the first.
  • Speed: Roll forming lines run at high speed. In thinner gauges, ductile aluminum strip is formed at speeds of up to 300 feet per minute.
  • Versatility: Our experienced tool designers can create complex custom profiles with bends, folds, and radii that add stiffness while providing the desired functionality. Additionally, our in-line punching capability eliminates the need for most secondary forming operations.
  • High Volumes: For quantities exceeding 10,000 linear feet, roll forming is the fastest and most cost-effective manufacturing process.

Capabilities

MMC can roll form virtually any lineal profile in aluminum (subject to design considerations for bend radii and angle). We roll form the 3000, 4000, 5000 and 6000 series, with 3003, 5052, and 6061 being our most popular aluminum grades.

Our state-of-the-art, Michigan-based facility features 14 roll mills, which allows us to perform up to 21 passes and hold tight angular tolerances (from +/- 0.030” to +/- 0.010”) on profile dimensions. Our maximum input strip width is 14” and maximum thickness is 0.200”.

While unusual designs may require custom tooling, we maintain a large tooling library that often eliminates the cost and lead time associated with creating new tools. To save time and money, we can work with your design to find ways of utilizing existing tools rather than making new ones.

Industries We’ve Served

MMC Roll Form proudly provides aluminum roll forming services to clients in many industries, including automotive, solar, furniture, and automated material handling.

Automotive

Aluminum is widely used in automotive applications due to its high specific strength and excellent corrosion resistance. Roll formed aluminum components we can produce include roof rails and roof bows, seat tracks, battery trays, and window channels.

Solar

Corrosion resistance and high specific strength make roll formed aluminum components essential in solar panel applications. We can help produce panel frames, cable management channels, mounting rails, and support posts and beams.

 Furniture & Appliances

MMC Roll Form has extensive experience producing a wide range of components, including drawer rails, shelving uprights, interior frames for tables and chairs, refrigerator and oven frame components, washer and dryer panel supports, HVAC components, and more.

Automated Material Handling

Roll formed aluminum offers many benefits for material handling systems. The biggest is high specific strength and stiffness, especially important in moving components, followed by corrosion resistance and precision. This last point, coupled with MMC’s ability to incorporate slots and similar features, helps support rapid on-site assembly.

Data Centers

Roll formed parts are easy to assemble and lightweight while still remaining strong and rigid, making them ideal solutions for data centers requiring quick, non-complex setups.
